Scarf Progress

Haven't got much done lately because of school, but I have made some progress.

A scarf dialogue courtesy of my mother:
Mom: So, this scarf you're making...it's going to be pretty long, yeah?
Me: Yup. It'll be about from here *indicates start of couch* to the wall.
Mom: The scarfy Doctor...
Me: Tom Baker.
Mom: Tom Baker. He was a pretty tall guy.
Me: Yeah, and it still made a big loop on him.
Mom: So...are you going to be able to wear this?
Me: Yeah! I'll just...loop it around more.

Hee. Well, we'll see when I'm done. Speaking of: Does anyone know of a good tutorial/video/book on how to crochet edges on? The scarf has a border which I'll have to crochet on when I'm finished, but I haven't done any crocheting before. I don't imagine it should be too difficult though, right?

OK, so my mother isn't the only source of crazy Who-Discussions. I think she has some difficulties with the fact that everytime I watch it another actor plays the Doctor.
(Who is that old man?
The Doctor.
I thought the young guy was the Doctor
No, that's Ian

I also liked the 'These are vampires, right?'
'Eww, no the third Doctor')

Can't help with crocheting...I haven't touched a crochet-hook since primary-school (I'm sure they bite...really)

My dad is the same way about regenerations. I keep trying to explain it to him, "No...it's the same man, he just looks different...and acts different..." Ha.

I think I'll just have to show him a regeneration episode sometime.

I think that counter is ADORABLE. [/random]

Ah, the discussions one has with the uninitiated . . . my the ones I have with my own mummy are quite amusing, up until she said of Three, 'He's a bit long in the tooth, isn't he?'
Me: TAKE THAT BACK THREE IS AWESOME.
Her: 'He's a bit old . . . '

Of Four, the first thing she said was 'He's got horse teeth!' & on the subject of his scarf, she ALWAYS, ALWAYS says, 'I hope he doesn't trip over it or strangle himself! IT'S A SAFETY ISSUE!'

So if I knit one, which I might, she'll probably say the same things.

MOTHERS. :P

& alas, I cannot help with the knitting . . . as I don't know how to knit. But good luck on finding what you're looking for!

I'd love to do this project, but can't knit. Good luck!

I've heard that Tom would just ignore the scarf when he wore it, so perhaps he had superpowers that stopped him from tripping on it and catching it on things.

Ah, yes. I can get irrationally defensive of the Doctors that I like the best. "Damn it, celery is a perfectly acceptable fashion choice!" *grumblegrumble*

Hee, another one:

Mom: the one that looks like an ice-cream man.
Me: ...huh?
Mom: All beige and...
Me: It's an Edwardian cricketing outfit! For cricket!
Mom: ...I still think he looks like an ice-cream man.
Me: ...

Thanks!

I do remember in Tom's last serial, he gets it caught on an old bush and pulls it off to exit the shot. Perhaps the Doctor's scarf superpowers were waning at that point? =)

Ooh good luck lovely! I like that scarf a lot, though my own goal is to do the multi-color-stripe one myself. I'm making knitting progress! I did 6 rows without accident today (before I screwed up majorly...).

Haha, I haven't even bothered explaining regeneration to my mom yet, but I'm sure once I do we'll have convos just like that. Your moms adorable XD

Where do you get the scarf counters for those, by the way? I've seen them around but never a link.

Scarf Counter thingamajig.

Oh, and I've found a great tutorial on how to knit in ends when you change colors. Maybe that would be helpful to you. (Of course, you can just leave 'em and weave 'em in after too.)
