cosmic_celery: (MASH: father: dear God..)
So, this past week, I started having what seems like an allergic reaction - one that I've had before on two occasions: this time I've gone rash on my ears and down my neck, and it itches like hell if I scratch it...so I haven't been. The first time was three years ago, and then the next time with similar stuff was last year. I went to an allergist then and he thought it was a virus gone systemic, but it seems to me like I've got an allergy to something that happens around here around this time.

Anyhow, I went into the doctor today and he prescribed me some Prednizone (basically, a steroid) and some antihistamines. Hopefully that'll get it to stop. After I moved here to La Mesa it's happened just about every year around July (so this year it's early) except for in 2008 when I was up visiting my dad at the end of July.

So...after all that, we still really don't know what has caused this or what will cause it in the future. I'm supposed to make an appointment with an allergist. Maybe he'll be able to figure it out. Run tests or something.

Now mom wants to go down to Lowes, so I'll write more on school and stuff when we get back.

Ugh. Okay. I'm officially sick. Mom's had some bad bronchitis this past week and it seems like I've caught it. Whoo. At least it's not the pig sniffles.

I turned in my midterm for World History a couple days late...which I reaaaaallly hope he'll take. One thing about online classes is it's harder to fudge with the deadlines.

Now, I think I'll go...pass out or...Oh, right, I've got to write that paper about how Rosencrantz and Guildenstern fail at communicating yadda yadda.

Okay, so while most of San Diego geekdom is at ComicCon, I have been at home. AT HOME.

What I did do this week:
I visited the allergist doctor (Yes, I had to go back and re-type doctor with a lower-case d). I don't like him much because he's touchy-feely and likes to stare at my boobs...and he made me wait around for an hour. Anyway, he thinks that I'm not having an allergic reaction to anything AT ALL, but in fact have some sort of virus that's gone systemic. That means that my body will fight it off on it's own - which seems like it might be the case since the bumps on my legs are nearly all gone.

I also got books in the mail for three of my classes, the anthropology book looks interesting and informative, the world history book looks like a standard textbook, and the interpersonal communication textbook looks like it was written in some sort of cuddly, ineffectual-quote ridden hell. All around, pretty much what I'd expected.

Also, I updated my lovely Fitz comm [livejournal.com profile] act_three with a new banner and a slightly new look. The old banner was bugging me because it didn't look like Fitz to me, but this one does. Also, go join if you haven't!

And tomorrow, I get to meet [livejournal.com profile] faience!

Agh, so, yesterday when I said I thought my mysterious allergic reaction was going away? I was wrong. It's totally getting worse, though if that's because I'm scratching or if it's just doing it on its own, I don't know. My legs are the worst; they look all bumpy and blotchy, there's some on my arms, and my ears are red and bumpy too. Basically, an all over allergic reaction. For the most part I'm okay, and it's not completely unbearable.

Mom called for me and made an appointment with the same guy I saw before. The appointment's on Friday, so unless my throat suddenly closes up, I'll just lay around till then. This same thing happened two years ago around the same time, so maybe it's something environmental? I have no idea.

Heh, this does make me feel a bit better about not going to Comic-Con this year. I'd probably be absolutely miserable if I went.

State of the allergic reaction: Possibly better. I took a cold shower and that seemed to help. Still no idea what caused it, and still waiting for it to go away.

And for fun, This is what I'm wearing today:
If you're wondering if playing the Sixth doctor has had an adverse effect on me, no, I've always dressed like this. XD )

Well, judging by how my arms and legs are still itchy and covered with tiny bumps, I'm guessing that I'm not exactly through with my mysterious allergic reaction. The last time this happened (that time I had rash all over my face) I went to the doctors and they couldn't figure out what was causing it, so they just put me on a bunch of steroids. I'm hoping it doesn't come to that, but at the same time, I wish this would just stop. Took a couple antihistamines, so hopefully I'll be able to get to sleep soon.

Today I visited my Grandma and, while mom went out grocery shopping, I read to her from the Eighth Doctor Adventure, The Deadstone Memorial. She says that she doesn't like sci-fi, and she's never seen any Who before, but she likes what I've read so far :)

Have spent today having a mysterious allergic reaction, zonked out on antihistamines. Joy.

Bleh.

Comic under the cut )

I've got a lot to do over break. A lot of German study, math, and reading and tons of research for English. I just hope that soon my head stops feeling as if I'm underwater.

Happy New Year, guys! This is my last day up in the San Louis Obispo area, then I'm back down on the train tomorrow! Hopefully I won't have to wait too long to find out about the BIG DOCTOR WHO NEWS tomorrow! I'm so excited!

Dad was sick earlier and now I've got it. Woo. But I'm hoping being sick on the train will mean that nobody will try to have long boring conversations with me. Here's hoping!

And because it made me giggle:

Ugh. Somebody remind me never to eat Chef Boyardee ravioli crap ever again. I can't believe I loved this as a child. While eating it, I had the distict impression that eating warm dog food wouldn't be much different. And to top it off: some sort of lemonade mix that ended up giving the vague impression of lemonade but was really just acidy-flavored water.

Hooray for gum getting that taste out of my mouth.
