Me = Dibmonkey
Sorow (12:09:02 AM): how goes?
Dibmonkey (12:09:33 AM): ach, gut. Und Ihnen?
Sorow (12:11:15 AM): sehr gut. Ich hatte einen wunderbar Tag.
Dibmonkey (12:12:09 AM): hehe. good thing. what happened?
Sorow (12:12:19 AM): easy day at work
Sorow (12:12:23 AM): went out with a good buddy
Sorow (12:12:31 AM): went to jack in the box just now
Sorow (12:12:48 AM): some lady was *screaming* at the people in the drive through
Sorow (12:13:13 AM): i mean cussing, etc.
Sorow (12:14:01 AM): i got out of the car, told her she was being excessively rude and that if she didn't leave immediately i would bash her windows in
Sorow (12:14:15 AM): with a few colorful words in between
Dibmonkey (12:14:55 AM): uh...why?
Sorow (12:15:23 AM): because you shouldn't treat people like that
Sorow (12:15:36 AM): i don't go to anyones place of work and scream and cuss at them because i had a bad day
Sorow (12:15:39 AM): thats unacceptable
Sorow (12:16:05 AM): and people do that
Sorow (12:16:08 AM): day after day
Sorow (12:16:22 AM): until someone stands up and says, hey, you're actions are unacceptable
Sorow (12:16:26 AM): your
Dibmonkey (12:17:12 AM): so you had to threaten her?
Sorow (12:17:27 AM): it was ok for her to threaten other people?
Dibmonkey (12:18:56 AM): just because she's yelling doesn't make it okay for you to do the same.
Sorow (12:19:25 AM): if one puts a stop to both;p
Dibmonkey (12:20:29 AM): still sounds a bit excessive.
Sorow (12:21:35 AM): see now
Sorow (12:21:44 AM): my thought is its excessive to accept that kind of behavior.
Sorow (12:21:58 AM): you don't scream and yell at another human being, period
Sorow (12:22:11 AM): and if you think thats ok, someone should tell you its not.
Dibmonkey (12:23:35 AM): it's not your place to stand up to that person, especially if you don't know either party involved. The person being yelled at has every ability to stand up for themselves.
Sorow (12:23:52 AM): yet if they do they lose their job
Sorow (12:24:22 AM): they're in a lose lose situation because someone higher up won't see the complain of someone who's being totally insane as such
Dibmonkey (12:26:27 AM): so, you take it on yourself to get out of your car and go confront someone else in their car? If I ever saw someone do that, no matter how mad the first person is, I'd think that they're acting crazy.
Sorow (12:09:02 AM): how goes?
Dibmonkey (12:09:33 AM): ach, gut. Und Ihnen?

Sorow (12:30:18 AM): if you treat someone poorly, you should expect the same in return. It's silly people let stupid things happen right in front of them without saying a word about it, but anywho, this conversation has gone greatly awry, so if i may!
Sorow (12:30:23 AM): hi, how are you tonight
Dibmonkey (12:34:27 AM): It's not really an issue of an eye-for-an-eye. That sort of thing never works out. It would have been a different situation if the person had been threatening harm and you felt you had to interfere before something bad happened.
Sorow (12:35:37 AM): see my point is something bad was happening.
Sorow (12:35:50 AM): when you go to the point of cursing and screaming at a total stranger
Sorow (12:35:55 AM): is the point where you cross the line
Sorow (12:36:02 AM): and need to be told that you have crossed the line
Sorow (12:37:10 AM): was it a little crazy, a little out of our societal standards? quite probably. was it wrong? no.
Sorow (12:38:18 AM): its just like the question
Sorow (12:39:06 AM): who's worse, the person who does a bad action, or the person that stands idley by who has the power to stop it
Dibmonkey (12:40:32 AM): the person who does the action. undoubtedly.
Sorow (12:41:00 AM): honestly
Sorow (12:41:14 AM): i think that we all have a natural duty to stand up for whats right and what we believe in
Sorow (12:41:37 AM): theres no point in believing anything if you won't stand up for it
Sorow (12:42:09 AM): if i believe stealing is wrong, but i watch people steal from someone and don't say a word or do anything
Sorow (12:42:42 AM): of what good am i doing stealing is wrong?
Dibmonkey (12:43:22 AM): then you're not pushing your ideals onto other people.
Sorow (12:44:05 AM): the ideal of something that you know absolutely is a bad thing for you and your society?
Sorow (12:44:55 AM): i can understand that when its something of opinion
Sorow (12:44:58 AM): but when its an absolute
Sorow (12:45:17 AM): you're giving up everything you believe in by not acting
Sorow (12:45:21 AM): you may as well believe in nothing
Dibmonkey (12:45:50 AM): who's to say when it's an absolute?
Sorow (12:46:23 AM): the person in question.
Sorow (12:46:40 AM): and i
Sorow (12:46:52 AM): as a person, absolutely believe no adult person deserves to be yelled at.
Sorow (12:47:03 AM): they don't deserve to be cursed at, or screamed at
Sorow (12:47:15 AM): and i did neither to such person
Sorow (12:47:37 AM): i simply informed them that their behavior was unacceptable
Dibmonkey (12:48:05 AM): by threatening to crush in their windshield?
Sorow (12:48:56 AM): well, i never would have actually done it
Sorow (12:49:17 AM): and it served a purpose
Sorow (12:49:30 AM): they'll think twice before they act the same way again
Sorow (12:49:57 AM): and in many cases, won't do it again
Dibmonkey (12:50:35 AM): because a crazy guy came and threatened to bash in their windshield!
Sorow (12:50:46 AM): because of their actions.
Sorow (12:51:02 AM): ever read up on the fear of god theory
Sorow (12:51:16 AM): but
Sorow (12:51:26 AM): the people at the drive through did thank me.
Sorow (12:51:38 AM): and gave me my order for free;p
Dibmonkey (12:52:22 AM): no...not because of their actions. Because of your actions. You can't blame your actions on others.
Sorow (12:52:33 AM): i blame my actions on no one
Sorow (12:53:00 AM): the simple fact is that if you treat someone unreasonably, you should expect someone to do the same to you.
Sorow (12:54:30 AM): but it isn't an eye for an eye type ordeal.
Dibmonkey (12:55:28 AM): what then, karmic redistribution?
Sorow (12:55:51 AM): karma is real and alive
Sorow (12:56:30 AM): and it just happens to be named dustin after he's dealt with the same bullshit from customers and then sees the same thing happening to another person
Dibmonkey (12:57:47 AM): I don't really think anyone has a right to play the role of karmic vengeance.
Sorow (12:57:52 AM): and honestly, i don't mean to be rude or take some high road or anything, but when someone is screaming at you and threatening to take your job etcetera for something thats totally out of your control
Sorow (12:58:38 AM): thats an interesting statement
Sorow (12:58:50 AM): and i would ask you who does?
Dibmonkey (1:02:41 AM): well, if I believed in karma (which I don't) I'd say that someone like that person would say...contract a horrible disease or get cut off in traffic, that sort of thing. Or, for the irony vote: they get yelled at in their job later that week. But I don't think people should think to themselves, hey, that person's an ass, I'm going to go be an ass to him. That's not how it works. That's just creating more contention.
Sorow (1:03:58 AM): but its not that way
Sorow (1:04:05 AM): its not, hey you're an ass, i'm going to be an ass to you
Sorow (1:04:23 AM): its hey, you're an ass, your behavior is unacceptable. knock it the hell off.
Sorow (1:04:46 AM): and yes, sometimes its being seen as an ass to do that
Sorow (1:05:15 AM): but you'd be more of an ass to sit by and let it happen
Sorow (1:05:20 AM): when you know, for a fact, that it is wrong.
Dibmonkey (1:08:02 AM): but the way you went about it, especially threatening her, was absolutely the wrong way to do it if you thought she was in the wrong, because you're doing the exact same thing. If you felt you had to approach them, wouldn't it have been so much the better if you had been calm and kind in telling them your opinion?
Sorow (1:08:22 AM): i was calm
Sorow (1:08:30 AM): and i did tell them my opinion
Sorow (1:08:45 AM): but someone thats gone that far won't listen to reason such as that
Sorow (1:09:23 AM): if they're acting like a child, you have to expect them to react like a child.
Sorow (1:09:29 AM): i don't like what you're doing, its wrong.
Sorow (1:09:33 AM): that won't go anywhere
Sorow (1:09:51 AM): i don't like what you're doing, you'll suffer the consiquences of your actions (even if its a total bs thing)
Dibmonkey (1:10:02 AM): the way to admonish a child is not to act like one.
Sorow (1:10:29 AM): is it to act like a child to let one know of the consiquences of their actions?
Sorow (1:11:16 AM): then again
Sorow (1:11:23 AM): i'm not a father, and good reason for such;p
Dibmonkey (1:12:27 AM): it's childish to lower yourself to that sort of level. Threatening a person in never acceptable.
Dibmonkey (1:12:36 AM): *is
Sorow (1:12:53 AM): you're right
Sorow (1:13:07 AM): and i have no arguement to that to be honest
Sorow (1:13:17 AM): except that there are some people that only respond to threats.
Sorow (1:13:31 AM): and its really, really, sad that its that way.
Dibmonkey (1:15:30 AM): I really don't believe that.
Sorow (1:15:40 AM): i wish i didn't;p
Sorow (1:16:51 AM): wow so tonight has really been a foot in mouth moment
Sorow (1:17:08 AM): you wouldn't think i could fit so much in my mouth, but woooooow.
Dibmonkey (1:17:32 AM): *pats*
Sorow (1:17:53 AM): i never said i was conventional ~
Sorow (1:18:13 AM): i'm like a toaster than coolers your waffles instead of heating them
Sorow (1:18:35 AM): then again, i'm sure some people have really hot waffles...
Dibmonkey (1:19:17 AM): Wha...?
Sorow (1:19:31 AM): precisely.
Sorow (12:30:23 AM): hi, how are you tonight
