HONESTY MEME

And...
Pick a character I've written, either in RP or fanfiction, and I'll tell you five things from my headcanon about them.

___________________________________

I didn't get the job at the casino. Not even a second interview! Ah well. They sent me a very impersonal form letter that hadn't even been signed by anyone. :/ Maybe I'll throw myself around to the local bookstores and see if I can get a job in the basement selling books to fine customers.

For the past couple weeks we've had a woman staying in the house. I've known this woman my entire life. She's the one who, upon my birth, convinced my mother to switch my intended first and middle names - much to my later dismay, and now she's staying with us while she does some work. I'll say briefly: this woman is all the things that annoy me about my mother turned up to eleven. She's extremely extroverted, incredibly tidy, snores like a dying yak, and says things like "libary" without notice. She's also incredibly nice and does the dishes, so I can't complain, but I have tended to stay up later at night or hide away in my room so I can get some time to myself. This has totally whacked out my sleep schedual. I suppose I'm just not used to it yet. ...And I don't know how long she's staying, so I may have to.

In more pleasant news, my new laptop is supposed to show up tomorrow. Yay.

Also, I've been reading through the EDA's with Fitz in (I figure that I should read his canon if I run a comm for the guy!) and would just like to say that Unnatural History is complete and utter crack. I can no longer say I haven't read a book in which someone has been mugged by a unicorn on the streets of San Francisco.

lol... wut?

Anyway.

OWEN.

It mugged them for Fitz's chocolate.

Owen!

1. After getting attacked by that Weevil, his DNA actually got altered a bit, so his thought waves are audible to all the Weevils on a level above normal Weevil communication...which is why they back off when he wants them to. Also, he now likes his steak done medium-rare instead of medium.

2. He doesn't know if his father is alive or dead. He left when Owen was young and his mother partly blamed him for it, which caused friction on both sides. His mother is still alive but he doesn't ever talk to her.

3. He's very clean. Everything has it's place and everything is kept spotless...except for his fridge which he doesn't put much in anyway. He leaves coffee cups and things around the hub to annoy Ianto.

4. He collects and reads vast quantities of cheesy sci-fi and pulp fiction paperback books, but you won't find them on his shelves. He keeps them in a big box in his closet.

5. He really, genuinely enjoys working for Torchwood. He misses fixing patients all the time, but he loves that he's part of protecting Earth and dealing with the unknown. Fiddling with alien tech is just icing on the awesome-cake.

Bonus! 6: He sees Jack as a father figure. But don't tell him that.

Sorry about the job! Selling books would probably be more fun anyway.

So I have that woman to thank for getting to play with you at a reasonable time? Send her my thanks, please. :P And what's your middle name?

And also, Siiiix.

Hee, yes. My sleep schedule's pretty much back to normal now, but don't worry, I'm sure I'm mess it up again soon! :D

My middle name is Arielle.

Hmmm. Six:

1. He's actually an introvert, but a very outgoing one. He enjoys people's company immensely, but sometimes he just needs to go off by himself. That's why he wasn't particularly distressed about the idea of hermiting himself away.

2. He likes trains, particularly steam engines. He has a large model track set up in his bedroom, and an actual engine tucked away in one of the TARDIS rooms. He works on the engine from time to time as a hobby. I'm almost backed up on this one too!

3. He's attracted to cunning, ambitious women. Unfortunately, this hardly turns out well for him as most of the cunning, ambitious women he meets want to kill him for one reason or another.

4. He had a pet cat once, but he gave it away.

5. He truly doesn't understand why people don't like his coat. In his more vicious moods he takes pleasure in the fact that it annoys people. In his better moods, it just annoys him.

Yay for messed up sleep schedules! Or, you know, not.

Wow, Arielle? That's a pretty cool name. Though Jessica Arielle flows a bit better. I don't have a middle name at all, so you're better off either way.

1. Agreed.
2. That is so cute! I remember him being quite enthusiastic about the steam engine in The Nowhere Place.
3. Has it ever turned out well for him? :P His true love is still the TARDIS.
4. He totally did. Is he the only Doctor to like cats? I know Ten was all "Uuugh, no thanks" about the cat in Fear Her, and I feel like I've read about other Doctors not liking them either.
5. This. I too don't think he sees anything wrong with his coat, and am trying to figure out how that's possible, lol.

Thanks. I've gotten used to Jessica. I think it suits me better, now.

4: In The Empty Child, Nine picks up a cat and talks to it a bit. Very cute. I think Ten just acquired the dislike for cats because of the cat-nurses in New New (etc) York.

5: My favorite part of that comic was that it said something like "and that wasn't even color film" when you hovered over it.

4. Hmmm, I must have gotten that idea from fanfiction then. In Gridlock he's all cuddly with the kittens again, very random.

5. Oh yes! I had forgotten all about the alt text. That was hilarious.

Meme- I'm too lazy busy at the moment to review to remember who you've written for certain but... Fitz?
Or alternatively, I know you've written Rimmer.

Sorry about the job. You probably would've been miserable there, anyway.

Unnatural History is cracktasticly cracked crackaliciousness. And yet it just works so much better than some other seriously cracked stories. (Mad Dogs and Englishmen, I'm looking at you.) I rather guiltily wanted Dark!Sam to stay. And it gave me one of my (long list of) favorite Fitz moments.

"It just hit him, he wasn't feeling cynical or angst-ridden about anything at the moment.
Anything at all
And that was so profoundly weird that he had to snog her again to stop thinking about it."

Aww, Fitz <3. But I like Mad Dogs and Englishmen! It was my first Doctor Who book, and it was so hilarious and cracktastic that I had to find more.

Hm, I don't think that I have enough headcannon facts about Fitz, so I'll do Rimmer:

1. He likes showtunes. He saw a live musical once and he fell in love with the format. However, once his parents discovered his interest, they immediately discouraged it and he wasn't allowed to go anymore. If you asked him, he'd say it's stupid and a waste of time, but he still has a few soundtracks in his music collection.

2. He could have been an amazing artist, but he never thought to develop the skill. He mostly uses it for shading in charts.

3. He uses his soft-light form to eaves-drop through walls.

4. He's afraid of women. He's never understood people in general, and never learned how human interaction really works. So, when women are actually interested in him, he's either completely oblivious or so entirely unsure of what to do that he messes the whole thing up.

5. When he left to become Ace Rimmer, he soon realized that he wasn't very good at it. For the most part, he just followed the instructions that the ship gave him, but he couldn't stand being in constant danger. He stayed on a liberated planet for a while, traded over the Ace Rimmer mantel, and came back to Red Dwarf at some point.

I HAVE to read Unnatural History now. I just have to.

Sorry about the job. At least they contacted you, they didn't just say 'we'll phone you by monday at the latest' and several weeks later you're still waiting....

Unnatural History is cracktastic awesome. You must read it.

Thanks. And yes, I'm glad I got word instead of having to wait around for something that's not going to come.

Sorry about the job. :<

Unnatural History was fun! hehe. I need to go and read an EDA to refresh myself soon. My Fitz has been crap... and I need to fix that.

Thanks. Your Fitz hasn't been bad at all!

Really sorry to hear about the job. But there'll be others, maybe even better ones, so don't let it discourage you.

You have my sympathies about living with annoying people.

meme: I don't actually know you and your fannish stuff very well, come to think of it. Nobody's going to pick Peri, so I will. PERI.

(Looking forward to getting that far in the EDAs someday. I'm on, um, something just after Seeing I right now.)

Well, I cheated a bit. After skipping around a bit, I started reading in order from Fitz's first book.

Peri!

1. Her accent isn't really as awful as it sounds. There was a glitch in the TARDIS translation circuit which caused it to sound off.

2. She has a photographic memory, which helped her greatly in her studies. She didn't have to work very hard to get good grades, so she spent a lot of time out with friends instead of studying.

3. She went to school on and off, taking the opportunity to travel with Howard's archeological team. She often leaves the team to go off on her own to other countries - partly because she wants to travel as much as possible, partly because Howard is a letch.

4. Her real father isn't dead. Her mother left him for Howard. Unfortunately, neither him nor Howard were good father material.

5. Her personnality slightly infuenced Five's regeneration, which can perhaps explain Six's taste in clothes.

1. Well that's a relief.

2-4. Yeah, I can believe that.

5. IT'S ALL HER FAULT! lol!
